Ventilator Cinema
Ventilator Cinema is an independent art and cinema space based in the iconic OT301 building in Amsterdam — a former Dutch Film Academy turned cultural hub. It operates as part of the Amsterdam Alternative collective and is dedicated to experimental film, performance, and critical dialogue.
The space is run autonomously and focuses on showcasing work that pushes boundaries — from underground cinema and video art to interdisciplinary live events and political media. Ventilator Cinema functions as both a screening room and a platform for artists, curators, and activists to collaborate, question, and create.
Since 2023, I have been served as the coordinator and programmer of Ventilator Cinema in OT301, Amsterdam. Together with Ivo Schmetz and Pablo Van Wetten curates and produces film screenings, performances, and interdisciplinary events that center critical thought, decolonial perspectives, and experimental forms. I help design and facilitate hybrid programs that combine screenings, live media, and discussions, creating space for artists, researchers, and performers to share work and ideas.
I collaborate with both local and international artists, researchers, and collectives, building connections that bridge underground cinema with broader cultural and political issues. My background in media design and storytelling shapes my vision for Ventilator as a space for sonic, visual, and political experimentation.
Beyond programming, I handle marketing and outreach to grow our audience and strengthen community engagement. I also provide production support—from technical coordination to event management—ensuring each event runs smoothly.
Ventilator Cinema operates as a self-organized platform at OT301, and I’m committed to maintaining its ethos of radical, self-determined programming and open discourse.
My contributions at Ventilator Cinema include:
Curating and programming film nights, installations, and talk-based events that explore themes such as memory, decolonial perspectives, and sound–image relations.
Designing and facilitating hybrid events that combine screenings, live media, and discussions, bringing together artists, researchers, and performers for critical dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Collaborating with local and international artists, researchers, and collectives to create connections between underground cinema and broader cultural and political issues.
