Ventilator Cinema
Ventilator Cinema is an independent art and cinema space based in the iconic OT301 building in Amsterdam — a former Dutch Film Academy turned cultural hub. It operates as part of the Amsterdam Alternative collective and is dedicated to experimental film, performance, and critical dialogue.
The space is run autonomously and focuses on showcasing work that pushes boundaries — from underground cinema and video art to interdisciplinary live events and political media. Ventilator Cinema functions as both a screening room and a platform for artists, curators, and activists to collaborate, question, and create.
Since 2023, I have been served as the coordinator and programmer of Ventilator Cinema in OT301, Amsterdam. Together with Ivo Schmetz and Pablo Van Wetten curates and produces film screenings, performances, and interdisciplinary events that center critical thought, decolonial perspectives, and experimental forms.
My contributions include:
Programming curated film nights, installations, and talk-based events
Collaborating with local and international artists, researchers, and collectives
Marketing & outreach for community engagement and audience building
Production support from technical coordination to event management
Shaping the vision of Ventilator as a space for sonic, visual, and political experimentation
Ibrahim brings his background in media design and research to the cinema, bridging underground aesthetics with urgent cultural questions.
